The fund seeks to invest in stocks of companies that are operating in financial services sectors such as bank, insurance, REITs, and utility companies. It primarily invests in preferred securities and other income producing securities including debt securities, hybrid securities, and convertible securities. At least 60% of the fund's assets are rated investment grade i.e. BBB/Baa or better by one of the nationally recognized statistical rating organizations. It employs fundamental and quantitative analysis, with focus a on bottom-up fundamental credit research to create its portfolio. The fund benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index. Nuveen Preferred and Income Term Fund was founded on July 26, 2012 and is domiciled in the United States.
